The match was played at Farleigh Golf Club on 8th October. Surrey had qualified for the play-off final by winning the South Division and Essex had won the North Divison.

Corben and Lovelock won both their morning foursomes matches where Surrey took a 3-1 lead; and their afternoon singles matches, which were tied 4 all.
