Hindhead Golf Club
Wednesday 1st February 2017
This years Captains' drive in was attended by 124 players who avoided the heavy rain forecasted and was won with a score of 99 points!
This years Captains' drive in got off to a murky wet start as everyone gathered for breakfast and mulled wine before witnessing the, best forgotten, Club Captain's drive (an overstatement) into the heather. Ladies' Captain Sam Dodd showed him how it should be done with three beautiful drives to the centre of the fairway. Charlie Corner, Junior Captain, maintained the tradition of outdriving the Club Captain, with a distance so far that none could actually see where it landed...
A very busy field of competitors battled the soggy conditions in a shotgun team stableford competition. The winning team with the best two scores carded an amazing 99 points. Joe Barrett claimed he missed an easy eagle putt for 100 points!
We were joined for lunch by Sally Woodley of The Simon Trust, Jojo Newman of the Meath Epilepsy Society, and Peter and Jackie Alliss from The Peter Alliss Masters Wheelchair Crusade. They all gave very moving introductions to the purposes and effectiveness of their respective charities.
We were delighted to see that we started the years fundraising with a raffle that raised £420!
Thanks to everyone who made this day so successful.
