Corben's Success Continues

Monday 29th June 2015

David Corben continued his successful season by winning The Devil's Punchbowl at his home club, Hindhead on Sunday 28th June, with a two round total of 139.

After a steady morning round of 72, David Corben followed up with a blistering second round 67 to win the Devil's Punchbowl by one shot from county colleagues, Alex Tonge of Burhill (140), Mark Booker of Royal Wimbledon (141) and first round leader Callum Mackay of Windlesham (141).

Starting the afternoon three shots behind Callum Mackay, Corben birdied three of the first six holes of his second round to close the gap. An eagle two at the short par 4 13th took Corben to 2 under par, where he was joined by Alex Tonge, who birdied the par 5 16th.

Corben held to nerve to finish par, bogey to Tonge's bogey, bogey finish to win the Devil's Punchbowl for the third time.

Hindhead Golf Club Captain, Chris Osborne presents David Corben with the newly commissioned Devil's Punchbowl. The new trophy was hand-made by Cumbria Crystal and replaced the original, which was stolen from the Hindhead clubhouse with many of the Club's other trophies in October 2012.
